It is narted by Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (RA) that Rasoolullah (SAW) said, "whoever fasts the month of Ramadan and thereafter follows it with six fasts of Shawwal, they will receive a reward of having fasted the entire year". (Al-Hadith)
During Ramadan muslims fast to show their gratitude to Allah. But after Ramadan these are only six days more to boost up worship. Medically it is also important to eat grdually rather than eating at once just after Ramadan. But more than the health there are spiritual and religious benefits.
2. Explanation of Reward
According to scholars, all good deeds of muslims during this month is multiplied by 10 which means fasting of 1-month equals fasting of 10 months. While for other remaining two months we need to fast six more days. When we multiply six by ten it becomes equal to sixty which is approximately equal to two months. (Subhanallah).
